Starting out in an operational role in Financial Services I soon became involved in projects as an SME.
Whilst I progressed to more senior operational roles, I leaped at an opportunity to manage my first real project and initially taught myself project management methodology from self-help books.
I took on a full time Project Manager / Senior Project Manager role, and progressed to Programme Manager.
Learning from my successes and failures, I realised that real project management was around people and communications, leadership and organisation.
Head of Project Management.
Responsible for a department of 30-40 project management professionals and over 100 projects. Successfully delivered a number of key Industry and Regulatory projects alongside many transformation and change initiatives and new product launches.
In recent years I have been contracting (inside and outside IR35) successfully as a Project Manager and Programme Manager.
I have over 30 years experience of managing people and 25 years of managing projects and programmes.
I am a qualified Prince 2 Practitioner and a full Member of the Association for Project Management (APM).
Throughout my career I have trained in many different project management methodologies, in house or from the major consultancies.
Outside of work, I am lucky to be happily married with two children who are progressing very well in their own careers.
I run, cycle, swim, compete in triathlons, play the piano, and am writing a book (fiction).
My peers describe me as easy to get on with, funny (?), intelligent (? ?), and approachable. My wife says that I am too honest for my own good.
