Introduction
In advance, you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire around your current position and what you are looking for from the mentoring process.
We will then have a free 30-minute introductory consultation to run through the questionnaire, introduce ourselves, look at whether Real World Project Management Mentoring is the right solution for your needs, and, if so, agree an outline plan / next steps.
The plan will include the number of sessions we are looking at, frequency, and an initial view of contents and approach. All of these can be adjusted as we progress.
The introductory meeting and all mentoring sessions are strictly 1:1 and fully confidential. The aim is to provide a ‘safe’ space to explore elements of project and programme management and build trust in a completely open and honest way.
The Mentoring Sessions
Session length is flexible to reflect your availability, needs and financial commitment. The minimum suggested is 45 minutes and the maximum 90 minutes. Frequency is similarly flexible, fortnightly or monthly would be recommended to allow time to internalise discussions between the sessions.
Each session includes a short introduction at the start and a health check / agreement of next steps at the end.
Recognising that projects in the real world can throw up unexpected problems, there is flexibility to change times and dates up to 24 hours in advance. Shorter notifications will be accommodated if possible.
Sessions will normally be held remotely using Teams (or similar).
Face to face, half-day or full-day sessions can be arranged by individual negotiation, where suitable to meet specific needs.
I am happy to provide a certificate confirming the sessions you have undertaken and main topics covered, if this will be useful to show to your employer as evidence of self-development or for CPD purposes*.

•A new project manager with some formal Project Management training but are unsure of how to apply this on a day-to-day basis.
•Looking to move into Project Management and want re-assurance that it is a good fit for your skills and to understand what it is really like day-to-day.
•A more experienced Project Manager or Programme Manager who is looking for a sounding board for ideas and new approaches.
•A new or aspiring Programme Manager who wants to look at what the role entails or should look like.
•UK based. (My experience is that cultural differences make a big impact on how to manage projects).
My experience is within Financial Services, managing Operational and IT projects – from new products to M & A integrations, regulatory change, transformations, privacy, data security and many more. Much of what I have learnt is related to people and communications and is relevant to projects within any industry. However, if you work on particularly technical projects, highly reliant on specific industry knowledge, I may not be the right mentor for you.
•Looking for training in a Project Management methodology (APM, Prince 2 etc) – there are many good providers available for this.
•Based outside of the UK.
